Pallet logistics in containers

Pallet logistics in containers plays an important role in ensuring the smooth flow of goods using various means of transport around the world. Pallets, which are the basic, standardized transport and storage units in trade and transport, play a key role in optimizing processes both locally and internationally. Also in sea freight, it is important to maintain certain standards when it comes to the transport of palletized cargo.

How to make good use of container space?

Optimal use of space inside the container is crucial for effective pallet logistics. Perfectly organized and optimally used space in a container can bring many benefits, such as saving costs, increasing transport efficiency and ensuring the safety and security of your goods.

Our team is perfectly aware of the potential that lies in the proper use of the interior of the container. That's why we carefully analyze the specificity of your goods and transport requirements to offer you the best solutions and ensure maximum efficiency.

Whether you are transporting food products, electronics, construction materials or other goods on pallets, various strategies can be used to use the space in the container optimally. This may include the use of special racks, dividing the interior into sections, using covers or using appropriate packaging techniques.

Different ways of arranging pallets in containers

Choosing the right method of stacking pallets in containers is of great importance for effective and safe pallet logistics. We use standardized methods of arranging pallets in containers of various sizes to maximize their space and to ensure that loading and unloading processes run smoothly and without any obstacles.

Pallet arrangement in a 20ft container

How many pallets fit in a 20 ft container?

The 20-foot container, often referred to as a TEU (Twenty-foot Equivalent Unit), is one of the most common types of containers used in maritime and container transport. This is the smallest type of container, so the appropriate arrangement of pallets in it is particularly important to optimize its space. Pallets in a 20-foot container can be arranged in several different ways.

  • External dimensions: approximately 6.06 meters long, 2.44 meters wide, 2.59 meters high.
  • Internal dimensions: depending on the specific model.
  • Capacity: approximately 33.2 cubic meters.
  • Used to transport various types of goods over shorter distances.

A standard 20-foot container holds 11 Euro pallets measuring 800×1200 mm in one layer:

or 9 industrial pallets measuring 1000×1200 mm:

or 10 industrial pallets measuring 1000×1200 mm:

Pallet arrangement in a 40 ft container

How many pallets fit in a 40 ft container?

40-foot containers are often used to transport larger volumes of goods on long sea and container routes, ensuring efficient and safe transportation on a global scale. Universal 40 ft containers are ideal for transporting larger amounts of pallets. Thanks to the larger space, we can effectively organize transport and optimize the pallet arrangement, thus saving costs and time.

  • External dimensions: approximately 12.19 meters long, 2.44 meters wide, 2.59 meters high.
  • Internal dimensions: depending on the specific model.
  • Capacity: approximately 67.7 cubic meters.
  • A unit commonly used to transport various types of goods over longer distances.

The 40-foot container allows you to stack 24 Euro pallets measuring 800×1200 mm in one layer:

or 25 Euro pallets measuring 800×1200 mm in one layer:

or a layer of 20-21 industrial pallets measuring 1000×1200 mm:

Pallet arrangement in a 40 ft Pallet Wide container

How many pallets fit in a 40 ft Pallet Wide container?

The 40 ft Pallet Wide shipping container is a special type of container with a larger width, designed specifically for the transport of pallets. It offers additional space that allows more pallets to be accommodated on one level, which significantly increases the efficiency and effectiveness of transport. In the case of a Pallet Wide container, the internal width is increased to allow two rows of Euro pallets (800 mm wide each) or industrial pallets (1000 mm wide each) to be accommodated side by side along the side of the container.

  • External dimensions: approximately 12.19 meters long, 2.44 meters wide, 2.89 meters high.
  • Internal dimensions: depending on the specific model.
  • Capacity: Similar to a 40 ft multi-purpose container, but offers greater width to accommodate more pallets.
  • You can fit 1 layer of 30 Euro pallets measuring 800×1200 mm in a 40 ft PW container:

Pallet arrangement in a 45 ft Pallet Wide / Pallet Wide High Cube (PWHC) container

How many pallets fit in a 45 ft Pallet Wide / Pallet Wide High Cube (PWHC) container?

If your shipments consist of multiple pallets, we offer 45 ft Pallet Wide / Pallet Wide High Cube shipping containers. These are special types of containers that have been designed to maximize the use of pallet space and provide additional loading height. In the case of Pallet Wide containers, the internal width has been increased to allow two rows of pallets to be loaded side by side along the side of the container. However, Pallet Wide High Cube containers are characterized by additional height compared to standard containers, which allows loading higher loads. 45 ft PW and PWHC containers hold up to 33 pallets in one layer.

  • External dimensions: approximately 13.716 meters long, 2.44 meters wide, 2.89 meters high.
  • Internal dimensions: depending on the specific model.
  • Capacity: Larger than the 40 ft Pallet Wide container, providing even more space for pallets.

You can fit 1 layer of 33 Euro pallets measuring 800×1200 mm in a 45 ft PW/HCPW container.
