Road freight - groupage (LTL) and full truckload (FTL)
In road transport, there are two basic types of cargo transport, which differ in terms of size and the way the truck's cargo space is filled. At ColliCare, we offer road groupage transport (LTL), as well as full truckload (FTL) handling.
LTLLess than Truck Load
Less-than-truckload shipping is used to transport freight that doesn't require a full truckload trailer (Less than Truck Load) - groupage:
- LTL, or less-than-truckload, refers to the transport of small loads that do not completely fill the cargo space of a truck.
- In the case of LTL transport, different customers can use one vehicle, sharing the transport costs.
- This type of transport is especially beneficial when one trailer can transport loads for multiple recipients, which leads to the optimization of the use of cargo space and costs.
FTLFull Truck Load
Truck fully loaded with goods (Full Truck Load) - - full truck loads:
-
FTL, or full truckload, means the transport of cargo that fills the entire cargo space.
-
In the case of FTL transport, the goods belong entirely to one customer, which provides greater control over the shipment and the possibility of direct door-to-door delivery.
-
This type of transport is often used when the load is larger or requires full availability of the cargo space.
Each of these types of transport has its own advantages and applications, and the choice between them depends on many factors, such as the size of the load, the number of recipients, the delivery time and the costs.
We provide both general cargo and full load transport to meet the diverse needs of our customers and provide optimal road transport solutions.
Advantages of road transport
Road transport, as a common and versatile means of transport, has many advantages. Among them, we can distinguish:
- Flexibility and accessibility: Road transport is very flexible and can deliver goods almost anywhere, even to small and hard-to-reach areas. The road network is widely available, which makes it easy to move cargo.
- Speed of delivery: Road transport allows for the quick delivery of most types of goods, without the need to transport them between different modes of transport. Properly planned routes can shorten delivery times.
- Door-to-door services: Road transport allows for comprehensive door-to-door solutions, meaning that the goods are picked up from the supplier and delivered directly to the customer, minimizing the need for transshipment and additional handling.
- Simple organization: Compared to other modes of transport, road transport is relatively simple to organize and can be more flexible in terms of delivery dates and locations.
- Tracking of shipments: Modern technologies allow for real-time tracking of loads, which provides full control over the shipment during transport.
- Security and control – road transport offers greater control over the goods, as well as more effective cargo security.
Sustainability in road transport
We focus on sustainable development in road transport. We invest in a modern fleet that meets the latest emission standards. We want to minimize our carbon footprint, which is why some of our vehicles are powered by biofuel, which significantly reduces CO2 emissions. Some local deliveries, especially in Scandinavia, are made using zero-emission electric cars. Our goal is not only efficient transport, but also taking care of the environment by introducing ecological solutions in everyday operations - read more about sustainability at ColliCare.
